James D. Martin
Partner
James “Jim” Martin is a partner at Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC and a highly accomplished trial attorney with decades of experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, product liability, and complex litigation. Since graduating from Rutgers University School of Law in 1975, Jim has been licensed to practice in all New Jersey State and Federal Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
His work has resulted in numerous million, multi-million, and billion-dollar verdicts and settlements, earning him recognition among the top litigators nationwide. Less than 1% of attorneys achieve this distinction, and Jim has consistently been honored for his outstanding advocacy and contributions to trial law.
John J. Kane
Partner
John J. Kane, known to colleagues and clients as “Jack,” is a partner at Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC and has focused his legal practice on civil litigation since joining the firm in 1984. He represents individuals injured in motor vehicle accidents and those injured due to defective premises. With over four decades of experience, he has developed a distinguished reputation in personal injury litigation and municipal court matters.
Jack is a Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey and has earned recognition as a trial specialist by the American Board of Trial Advocacy. He has been consistently named among New Jersey Super Lawyers, and since 2013, has been listed in the Super Lawyers Top 100 Attorneys in New Jersey.
Eric Kuper
Partner
Eric Kuper is a partner at Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC and has focused his practice on civil trial litigation since his admission to the New Jersey Bar in 1987. After graduating from Trenton State College, he earned his Juris Doctor from Western New England School of Law and began his legal career with Lynch Martin, continuing with its successor firms to the present day.
With more than 200 cases tried to verdict in Superior Courts throughout New Jersey, Eric has extensive experience in workplace accidents, automobile liability, premises liability, liquor liability, toxic torts, and product liability. His practice is rooted primarily in Middlesex County, where he has built a reputation for thorough preparation, strategic advocacy, and practical problem-solving.
John Harding
Partner
John Harding is a partner in the Defense Department of Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC and has represented clients in complex litigation matters for over 33 years. At both the trial court and appellate levels, he has litigated numerous matters including claims involving automobile accidents, fall-downs, product liability, employment matters, and civil rights claims.
John’s trial experience has earned him the distinction of Certified Civil Trial Attorney by the State of New Jersey. He has also been named a “Super Lawyer” by New Jersey Super Lawyers each year since 2014.
Prior to entering private practice, he served as Judicial Clerk to the Honorable Joseph J. Salerno, Superior Court, Passaic County.
John is a former President of the Middlesex County Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He has also been recognized as a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the New Jersey Defense Association, the Middlesex County Bar Association, and the New Brunswick Bar Association. He is a former Vice-Chair of the Highland Park Zoning Board, a Mediator appointed by the Middlesex County Superior Court, and was Certified as a Lemon Law Mediator by the Better Business Bureau.

Regina DiStefano
Associate
Regina DiStefano is an Associate at Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC. She brings extensive experience in personal injury insurance defense, having practiced at several firms following her clerkship with the Honorable Michael D. Farren in Monmouth County. Regina earned her undergraduate degree from Lafayette College and her Juris Doctor from the Widener School of Law in Delaware.
Steven M. Micklovic
Associate
Steven Micklovic is an Associate at Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC. He earned his B.A. in History from Rutgers University, where he interned at the Ellis Island National Museum of Immigration, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Center (JDC), and the Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest. He received his Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law, where he served as editor of the Quinnipiac Probate Law Journal and interned for the Connecticut Chief Disciplinary Counsel. Since joining the firm, Steven has focused primarily on personal injury law on behalf of plaintiffs.
Carolyn Morrison

Carolyn Morrison is an Associate at Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC. She brings extensive experience in personal injury insurance defense, having practiced at several firms following her clerkship with the Honorable Donald G. Collester, Jr. in Morris County. Carolyn earned her undergraduate degree from Lafayette College and her Juris Doctor from the Pace University School of Law in White Plains.
Susan Pierce
Associate
Susan Pierce is an Associate at Martin, Kane, Kuper, LLC. She earned her undergraduate degree from Trenton State College in 1987 and her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 1991.
Following law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Herman L. Breitkopf, A.J.S.C., before practicing as a personal injury defense attorney at several firms. Since 1997, Susan has served as a Middlesex County Arbitrator, and she has also contributed to legal education as a Visiting Professor teaching Ethics at DeVry University.
Brian E. Yesalonis
Associate
Brian Yesalonis joined Martin, Kane, Kuper in 2010 and is a civil litigation attorney concentrating in workers’ compensation and medical malpractice. He also has extensive experience in professional malpractice, personal injury, product liability, home inspection liability, and arbitration.
In addition to his litigation practice, Brian serves as an arbitrator in Middlesex County. He is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York.

Of Counsel
Petra Vavra serves as Counsel to the Law Firm of Martin , Kane & Kuper with a particular emphasis on litigation. She was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and came to the USA with a keen appreciation of the value of a democratic judicial system. After obtaining her law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law, Petra Vavra worked for several firms which specialized in various litigation areas including, personal injury, insurance and construction defect.
